How Exercise Can Help Reduce Stress

During this crazy time, we all know it’s important to be smart and take the precautions necessary to stay healthy and safe.

But one thing not a lot of people are talking about is the mental impact this whole situation has on us. During times of struggle and mass hysteria, it’s inevitable that stress will creep up on us.

One very beneficial way to beat the stress and anxiousness most of us are feeling is by exercising. Let’s also not forget that stress tends to weaken the immune system, which is something we want to be taking extra care of right now.

Exercise releases endorphins, which are your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters. In return, this will boost your mood and reduce symptoms of mild depression and anxiety.

Staying active can also improve your sleep, which is another key factor in staying healthy and making sure your immune system is in tip-top shape.

After a good sweat session, you’re often times so in the zone, that you forget about the stressors of the day. Focusing on the single task at hand helps clear your mind, and becomes a meditation in motion.

Like we mentioned before, it’s important to be safe and take precautions. While those precautions involve washing your hands and not spending too much time in large crowds, they also involve taking care of yourself, and making sure your immune system is ready to take care of you too.
